By now, you’ve started to make those small sacrifices. You’re learning to rethink cardio and strength, and you're building the foundation for real, sustainable change. You are officially in the game.
But what happens when things don't go to plan?
What about the day you have a binge? Skip the workout scheduled? In most plans, this is the moment guilt kicks in and the wheels start to fall off. The point we tell ourselves, "I've failed."
Rethinking Failure
We look at it differently. Starting with wisdom from Denzel Washington:
"If you don't fail, you're not even trying."
Read it again, and let it sink in. He’s not saying failure means game over or time to give up. Instead, he’s telling us that failure is an essential part of achieving success. Edison failed 1,000 times inventing the light bulb.
If you genuinely push yourself, step out of your comfort zone, and fully engage with a process of growth or creation, failure isn’t just likely — it’s necessary. We can’t win every day. The only way to guarantee you never fail is to stand still. The only way to never miss a shot is never take one.
We embrace failure as a vital teacher, not a dead end. Redefine it, not the end of the road but a pothole along the way to the destination. There is a crucial difference between a 'lapse' (a single event) and a 'relapse' (using that lapse as a reason to give up).
Most importantly, these moments are opportunities to get stronger and more bulletproof in the long term. It’s about learning from it and going again, but smarter than before.
Failing is the most important lesson of all.
